Dean Dorsey is a buying coordinator for Wolff Bros. Supply. The Wolff Brothers were generous enough to give Dean the latitude to work with me on The House on Third Street. In many ways Dean has been a partner. Dean originated the idea of getting companies involved and personally arranged for many of the product donations. He has never wavered in his support and belief in what I was trying to accomplish. I have never met a more determined man. When he says he will do something, you know he will be relentless in getting it done. Dean searched for information, made an endless number of phone calls, attended meetings and events (usually was the person who drove the farthest to be there) and lobbied others to get involved in the “Clean Tech” movement. No one has done more to support The House on Third Street.

My dad is the hardest working and most selfless man I have ever known. At seventy-seven he is still at it, whether it is attending or rebuilding his garden beds, helping my brothers, or answering my call for help at The House on Third Street. I can’t thank him enough for all of his help, support and all of the trips he has made to Sandusky.

My mother is a brilliant and very informed woman with incredible recall. When I worked in study groups in college, and we were stumped by some question, I told the group I had a private number for getting answers to anything. I would call my mother and go back to the group with the answer. Of course, everyone wanted the number. When it comes to spelling, grammar, history, recipes, ideas, etc. she is my go to person. Promoting The House on Third Street has required me to do a lot of writing. My mother makes me look smart by proof reading my work. Nothing gets by her eagle eyes and that includes a cookie missing from her counter. If you find a mistake, it is something she didn’t read.

Sue and I thoroughly enjoy our home. We owe Joe Danduran a lot of the credit for why we look so good. Joe is the manager of Herman’s Furniture and the wonderfully talented interior designer who coordinated The House on Third Street’s look and feel. I enjoy art and design and I am very particular, but I wouldn’t change a thing Joe did. He is very confident and instinctively knows what goes where. I’m never quite sure whether visitors come to house to learn about energy efficiency or to see Joe’s work.

As you might be able to tell, Dennis St Clair works in the tool Department at the local Lowe’s Store. Dennis is a positive, get it done and done right type of person. My kind of guy. He has been through it all with me. He has help me to think and talk through problems construction issues ….heard my weekly and sometimes daily updates on my work on The House on Third Street, as well as my lobbying efforts. When I had to have 4’x 18’ sheets of trim board ripped down to sizes, Dennis pulled his trailer up to the house, we loaded it up, he took it his home and he brought it all back stacked by size. He has been a great support

Whit Andrew is a long time friend from my days in Akron, Ohio.
He and his brother Jeff own Garth Andrew’s Interior design, located in Bath, Ohio. I met Whit playing tennis. I think he plays seven days a week. He would practice with my daughter during her tennis days and he has helped coach the girl’s local high school tennis team for years. I fell in love with contemporary art and design from visits to his store and helping Whit rebuild an old farmhouse. The entire family has an incredible gift for design. They are also great craftsmen/women as well. I learned how to do drywall work from Whit. Whit is a very positive, upbeat, generous and hospitable person. Events at his home are great fun. Whit came to Sandusky many times to help put up exterior siding & trim and to help with the interior trim and doors as well.

Vick Andrew is Whit Andrew’s son. Vick is one of the hardest working people I know. Vick built a 3,500 s.f. home by himself. When it came to building The House on Third Street, I thought Vick is much younger, but if he can build that big house by himself, surely I can build one half its size. Ya! Right! Vick also has a great sense of design. Whit brought Vick along to give me a hand laying tile in the front two bedrooms. We had a lot of laughs, but we were whipped by the time we finished.

Phil Gast is another hard working man. Phil is our neighbor and is in the process of finishing a second story addition and a wrap around porch to his house. He works all day, then comes home to work on his house. There were many nights we both would be out working on our homes in the dark and I would yell out “It’s time to quit, Phil!” and he would respond “Ya I know” or “I’m almost done.” He has two children and many others that hang out at his house and around his neck as he tries to work. He always has time for their questions and to give them attention. Well almost always! Phil and his friends helped pour the concrete floor for the garage as well as the patio and porches. Phil also showed me how to use a front end loader to grade the yard.

Tim Steinbauer lives two streets over and is the neighborhoods man of all seasons. Tim works for Ohio Division of Watercraft, is an occasional ferry boat captain, sails, snowboards, gardens, is renovating his house, works on his boats, motorcycle, and sports car in the garage he built that includes a bath & shower and car lift. In his spare time, Tim washes windows and lays ceramic tile.
When I was working like a mad man to finish the house for an open house we scheduled and was running out, Tim was crazy and generous enough to volunteer to do the monstrous job of tiling the master bath & shower and guest bath. At that point, I’m not sure I would have had it in me to finish them it myself.

Nick Steinbauer is, as you might guess, Tim’s brother. Besides being a web designer, Nick is also a boat captain for the Jet Express, which services Kelley Island and Put-In-Bay. Like his brother, Nick was generous enough to volunteer to design our web site. As you can, a lot of time and thought went into its development. The web site has been a huge help in communicating with the public and the companies we are working with. To learn more about Nick’s web design talents, click the Nahodha link found at the bottom of each page.

Nick Hickle is the owner of Landoll Computer. Nick handles our website and service and like so many, he has been generous with his time and support. I am very very naive when it comes to web service. From my experience, Nick’s patience has no boundaries. Nick is also a member of Green Energy Ohio. Nick is a young entrepreneur whose service will earn your business and respect.

Bartley Kiefer works at Universal Supply, a local hardware that also rents commercial equipment. Bartley is always ready to make the best of each day and always gives me the best advice and the best breaks on prices. I can’t begin to tell you how many foam guns and cans of foam I have gone through, but universal is the only place locally that stocks them. Foam guns have so many uses. Everyone should have one. Be sure to tell Bartley I sent you.
