Radiant Heating System

radiant radiant

This picture shows the homes heating system. The small electric boiler (1) is pictured in the upper left corner, as well as the primary and secondary heating loops.

During winter months, the lower red pump (2) continuously circulates water through the gray  tubing (3)embedded in the concrete floor.

The upper pump, which is also red (4), only runs when the home’s thermostat calls for heat. When it is activated, this pump pulls water from the circulating loop and pumps it through the tankless boiler where it is heated. It then reinserts it back into the circulating loop.

The three upper dial  gauges monitor the temperature of the water going out through floor and the temperature of the water returning.

The blue device (5) to the left of the lower pump, filters the water coming into the house. It includes a dial gauge to tell how much pressure the water is under.

A small computer (6). helps to maintain the concrete floor at a very even temperature by controlling the upper and lower limits of the water temperature circulating through the floor. The computer is connected to a sensor that monitors the temperature of the water returning from the slab. When the water reaches the temperature the high limit we set, the computer turns  the system off.  When the temperature falls below a lower temperature that we set, the computer turns the heating system back on.
